I'm James, a software engineer based in Kansas City. I've been building things on the internet since before it was a career, and I'm still in it for the same reason: I like making things that didn't exist before.

16Channels is my lab, studio, and blog. The lab is where experiments live. Some ship, some teach me something and get retired quietly. The studio is where the things that actually ship live. The blog is where I write about what I learned building both.

Right now I'm deep into AI. Not in a cautious, wait-and-see way. I'm genuinely excited about it and trying to get as close to expert as I can by actually building with it. Agent integration, custom LLMs, figuring out what these tools can really do when you push them. The writing assistant on this site is one result of that. More are coming.

Outside of engineering I listen to more audiobooks than any three people you know and I play guitar. Soft on the outside, crunchy in the middle.
